Cons
The first three books were a chore to read. I love sci-fi but was disappointed that this novel that has been much praised is relatively drab and unengaging. Comparing this book to banks' is disrespectful to his memory.
It is as indecipherable and boring as the 1* reviewers say. You are unsure what is happening, nor do you care. Boring, disjointed, poorly executed.
There is nothing in this story that encourages the reader to empathize with or recognize one character from another. The writing was so convoluted that i never got much of a picture.
Dense prose, but anemic plot. The prose is awkward and cumbersome. The result is an uninteresting melange of substances.
