Pros

This fan is noticeably quieter than the 4. Broan it replaced. The noise level isn't amazing, but its noticeably better than before. It's still a bit loud but not really bad.

The fan upgrade itself is decent. It installed easily just like our previous replacements. Super easy to install.

It produces 10 more cfm by enlarging the fan cage. There are more than one 690-a. The outlet was positioned in a corner, rather then the side, so the qk60s ended up being a compatible replacement.

Cons

The nutone 696n fan was easy to install, but the grill upgrade is flimsy and doesn't fit the ceiling nearly as good as the original frame. The plug is in a different location and can't be plugged in.

These fans become noisy faster than i would have hoped and expected. Not for the novice.

The only down side for me was the price it seems about 2x than it should be

It would have seriously taken 5 minutes to install including unboxing if it werent for the shotty install of the housing box

Competitiveness

Those were a lot easier to deal with on the 690a fan

This fan exhaust more cfms than the old fan and it is also much more quite
