    Mine does there is a setting where yes the fan will run continually but if that is not on the unit totally shuts off until the digital humidistat on top goes up to 55 then unit kicks on lowers humidity and it shuts back off

    My in laws had a different dehumidifier where the air return was on top and they have a 5 ceiling in their basement so it did not circulate the air well
