It is fairly well cushioned, and the knee support is well padded and fairly comfortable with pants, but tend to rub with shorts. Padding is plenty for shins and buttocks. I am 75; this kneeler makes me sit up straight.
Chair is sturdy, fabric is tough, padding is minimal but useable. The frame itself is quite sturdy and would probably far outlast those wooden ones i've seen. It feels very sturdy and well made.
The handles make mount/dismount actions easier and safer. Great for safely getting up and positioning steadily with a disability. It certainly looks less goofy with out the handles.
Cons
The wildly stapled fabric is lumpy and raw edged. The padding is fairly lousy as well. I know this stool looks solid and indestructible, but your body isn't! Go for adequate foam padding.
The quality is very bad. The paint is eroded a several places. The picture is misleading.

Also i was missing one nut for a bolt construction quality is acceptable for price paid
The material on the 2 pads arent exactly quality chair material its good enough to not bother a bare leg that much

Wish the height could be adjusted better was tricky to find a fit with a somewhat lower working desk

Just be aware that the onepage assembly instructions contain an error the screws meant for the seat and the knee rest are reversed
