Pros
Sand with medium and fine sandpaper, or fingernail sanders (spongy rectangles) wipe with damp cloth to get the sanded wood off the tool.
Cons
The handle part is nicely smooth, but the part where it comes in contact with food is rough and full of splinters. The dough sticks to it and makes a mess, so it is basically not usable for me at this time.

The edges of the two ends will still have gaps and some checks

And the progression from center to edge is mostly full of gaps as the fibers are cut to make the transition to the edges
