Wood is sturdy and was easy enough to put together. The legs are plastic but seem sturdy. You have to twist each leg on and make sure they are tight before moving on. It isn't a beautiful piece of wood however it functions beautifully.

Only the top shelf is capable of fitting 3 pairs of shoes and even then 3 is a tight fit.
