For the infrequent carpenter wanna be, it would require relearning it at least a few times. This laser measurer is well made, compact and sturdy with a nice display.

The ts has a compass on it which is always active; a feature the * does not have. Triangulation measurement method is very cool and accurate.

Cons

The laser is smaller and harder to read in bright daylight than other brands. The group of material categories is paint, flooring, wallpaper, crown molding are the only choices.
