Pros & Cons
Pros
Lani sarem's debut novel, handbook for mortals is unputdownable. The first part of the book is set in the mortal world. The second part focuses on the vampire side of the story.
Zade holder is a young illusionist in las vegas. A mysterious woman is * zade’s steps.
She soon finds herself ensnared in a love triangle. Though not teens these characters are young adults and therefore think and talk like ya. But it is young love and that should explain it all.
A bridge of incidents (as neville goddard called it) unfolds, matters shift, people move around, and our desire materializes. This story is about learning to live boldly in truth. We manifest most powerfully when our conscious & subconscious are i... Read More
Cons
Not harping on the whole not that kind of girl tm trope, but this could seriously have been done better. She even starts a thing with a plain white t's member who doesn't exist.
Every paragraph is just an information dump. This book has no blogger coverage at all. Spare yourselves and google the various recaps and sporkings for free.
I have to concur with many here that the preview of the book was simply amateur writing. I'm just here, much like many other reviewers, to voice my sheer discontent not only with the story, but with everything that surrounds it.
The author promotes this book as a new york times best seller. The amount of fraud associated with the book's ignominious rise to fame only amplifies the fact that if taken on its own merits, it would have been lucky to get within sniffing distance.
The writing is criminally atrocious. There are awkwardly crafted sentences that make absolutely no sense.

Quality
It starts a little slow, but picks up pace and will have you begging for a slow down before it’s all over!
Leaving home and going to join a life on stage represents when we consciously manifest in the 3d because the world is a stage.
The constant secrecy & suppression caused a buildup.
We know by experience who we are and what we can do, we have manifested miracles and caused crazy seemingly supernatural things... Read More
Competitiveness
Unlike the other illusionists, zade uses real magic.
That is not a jab at the twilight series but just to explain that the comparison to the twilight series was because of the some... Read More

I kid you not that alone made me laugh for a good 5 minutes

Obviously the book itself is not a comedy it was more like how one would laugh at a bad movie like 34the room34 for example

The protagonist zade is nowhere near as smart as she or the author thinks she is
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
We are shown two times where she uses her magic powers for the most petty of revenge and in one chapter she straight up ignores what seems like a major plot hook because shes more worried about the love triangle shes in

A love triangle where its blatantly obvious which pairing is endgame

In fact removing jackson would probably clear up the most confusing part of the book
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
You see jackson is said to be a member of the plain white tees which throwing a fictional character into a real band is odd enough but within the story they are treated like theyre a new up in coming indie band despite the fact that according to wikipedia the plain white tees formed in 1997
