I bought the circular base plate at the same time which included the various waterproofing connections for external use however if you were securing this against the eaves of your house you could drill a big enough hole to pass the network connector of the camera into the loft space and simply fix as it comes out of the box

Recording and capture can be done locally to the machine where youre viewing through a browser or remotely to network storage 8 in total from the builtin software

Theres two options for viewing live and playing back the recorded footage one is an activex based plug in that is downloaded from the device and installed when you first launch your browsing session
