Now that people mention it i can see smell that its there but while im not really a fan of black licorice per se i dont have any animosity towards it either so its a meh in my book

By that i mean that beard balm seems to leave less oily residue than the actual oils i use on my beard itself im a semiobsessive face toucher and oily residue can be a nightmare for say your cell phone screen for example
