If you have carpet or foam or anything textured youre likely to have minimal success

Going to flat surface like tile or hardwood this coasts effortlessly

One thing to watch out for is if you have couches that are relatively low to the ground the ground clearance on the soccer ball is only a few inches and it can very easily get stuck or slide underneath a couch upon what you have to retrieve
