As others have mentioned there was no startup tone when batteries were first installed but i think thats just an issue with incorrect instructions

They probably printed 30000 instructions sheets and then changed the programming of the clock

The only problem ive found with this item is that the alarm button which is supposed to activate the sound for the alarm is totally nonfunctional
