Pros

The only people who seem to dislike it are the ultra-purist photo crowd. The lytro is a very good deal for those of us interested in photography and technology.

Lytro is an entirely new product by a startup. The desktop software has a bit of a learning curve, but there are a lot of cool features. Would like to have a android app to edit and share on the go.



Cons

Tiny, cheap lcd screen is almost impossible to view off-angle. The custom case is awful - it's so tight as to make removal of the camera challenging, and precludes use of the innovative magnetic lens cap. The lens cap is useless.

The desktop software has enough limitations that it probably can't even be installed on a typical pc or mac. The mobile app is only available for ios, which is actually the smaller installed base of mobile oses. It crashed 6 times when it was download...  Read More

Absolutely, horrible camera. That's pretty much where any progress stops.

It's a piece of junk that i'm going to put in my drawer next to my microsoft brown zune. Thanks lytro take the money and run, omission of key information like this is disgraceful.

Lytro's new illum is a gimmick. The technology behind the camera and all the fluff they try to sell you on to convince you that this is something amazing an innovative, is a total lie.

    Im still interested in getting one but nowadays everyone just takes still shots and videos on smartphones

    Todays phones even have some pretty cool technology that id never even dreamed of such as autofix for lighting and redeye and those multiframe still shots where you can pick the best one if youre shooting a moving object or a blinking person
