The polar pattern for this mic is more uni-directional. It's a very no-fuss straightforward mic that will do what you want it to. Very versatile mic.
This mic is on a shock mount with an a81ws foam. Industry standard recording mic, sm57 and sm58 are the best starting point if you need to buy a mic.

The sm57 is often hailed for being a great musical instrument microphone but we are using it for speakers at a podium

It only gets used for the spoken voice so i cannot comment on the way is sounds when you sing into it
