This worked the best for my car since i did not have a nice smooth flat space for a suctioncup cradle device and the cd slot on my car was recessed from the upper and lower lips on the cd player unable to lock a cd playertype device into place because the tightening knob was blocked by the lips of the player

It took a few minutes to tighten the device in the cupholder and get the cradle positioned in just the right direction but it stays in the cupholder pretty well and the phone does not rattle and has not fallen out or moved unexpectedly i have had the device for over a month

This product is very good quality but its pretty small

You have it twist the shaft that connects the holder to the base in order to lock it in

Depending on where you started locking the cradle in the cup holder it might not line up the way you want
