Theres no real issue with the port itself but the reality of the situation is that hooking your mac up to practically any device requires an adapter

It only holds the cable to the adapter though as there is no real security beyond friction that holds the thunderbolt connector in to the port on your mac

The macbook had the tiny little output port and the monitors i might be using acer samsung had vga and dvi ports and i didnt think i wanted vga

Keep in mind that the adapter is limited to 1920x1200 singlelink dvi
