Pros

This has all the good points of induction cookers but has some annoyance. It boils water faster than my electric kettle. My mum finds the * a bit confusing you have to press 'select' every time you switch on before choosing cooking temperature) but th...  Read More

It is very robust and well made, it's easy to use and easy to clean. A nice sturdy surface, simple to use, does everything you’d want it to. Would recommend it anytime again.

The power is pulsed on and off so the thick base evens out the temperature change in the pan. Ideal for stainless steel, cast iron cookware.

Cons

Scanpan iq frying pan is very expensive for great even cooking. It also has an annoying habit of alarming, reporting an e05, which appears to be overheat. At high temperatures, it makes cooking in a wok impractical.

Experiment with the power settings but i think you will find 800w to 1000w adequate for most cooking applications

Competitiveness

I use it as a back up for my aga since i often need a hotplate cooler than my aga hob

So its both more efficient and more flexible than conventional hobs

We had purchased an andrew james model some while ago and were very pleased with that product which is still working as new this induction hob is almost identical and as the andrew james appears to be no longer available it may well be that they were taken over by vonshef

Downside was button beeping and the induction noise against the kettle at 6am

Not sure if the induction noise would be the same whichever induction product you had
