Pros
Single burner burner heats up very well. The dial has settings off, then warm, then 1 to 5. Burner goes from boiling water to simmering quickly. Heats up fairly fast and cooks well.
These burners are very sturdy even tho they are light in weight. The sealed burner surrounded by stainless makes it very easy to clean. The burner is heavy and sturdy.
Waring sb30 mett all my needs. You won't be disappointed. It does and excellent job.

To achieve a simmer, the heating element cycles on and off every few minutes. If i don't the contents will boil (though not a rolling boil) instead of simmer. Very difficult to use at low, simmer settings, & the heat distribution is uneven.

Beats the living day lights out of the cheaper burners at your local rite aid and cvs stores
I think cuisinart took over waring since that is the name on the units now
Note that cuisinart now sells this waring does still make it but it costs twice as much at specialty retailers

Where i really felt impressed was when it didnt perform well the knob that turns it on and off stopped making it turn on and off for no apparent reason

I sent my old burner in to the company and they kindly replaced it

The real test will be to see if the knob failure was a fluke or happens again but we hope that with what seems to be a generally quality product that it was a fluke

I looked at several of the cheaper lightweight knockoffs that have an 34open heating element34 that debris and especially any liquid could easily get inside the unit
