Pros & Cons
Pros
Ignorant but i looove the way techie kitchen appliances looks. I make yogurt every week, and this appliance is the best yet.
The base is large enough to hold 7 of the single-serve jars. On the waring site * is 27$! I have a 2 1/2 quart corelle casserole that fits in it perfectly.
According to my candy thermometer (none comes with it), this yogurt maker holds the temperature at a constant 115 f. When it is cool i know because when i put my fingers in the milk it feels like my skin temp which should be 98. I microwave the milk t... Read More
Even the plain yogurt is really good. It makes absolutely wonderful yogurt. The kids like the yogurt. They like it that way, whereas they never did with store-bought yogurt.
Set the timer for 10 hours (more hours or less depending on your preference) i like to let it process for about 10 hrs. Just connect the ym to the power outlet and a big blue 8 will come to life on the led display.
Cons
The correct temp for fermentation of yogurt is 110 degrees. The other inconsistency is in the yogurt usuallycomes out with a fairly smooth texture and consistency on top, changing to dry and grainy at the bottom.
Highlights
Quality
The first time i used it i was amazed at the quality of the yogurt i made
Again no gripes with the vendor and this is a great product
Just use a good quality organic yogurt to use as the starter instead
Would have to buy a new machine with the full set of jars cheaper that way unfortunately
Price
It is the best on the market as far as i am concerned and the price is well worth the product
I got some plastic ones with lids for a very good price
However since the price was tempting and waring pro is well known for their quality i purchased on impulse
Shipping
I picked this up at a bm store because i couldnt find the cuisipro yogurt maker locally and i didnt want to wait for shipping
Price for 14 glass jars shipping to
Packaging/appearance
I just put the lids on and place the jars in the fridge as soon as possible and chill overnight
Even when i carelessly scolded the milk the yogurt still had a great flavor
The fact that it shuts itself off after the alotted time is so nice too
Pour the batch of warmed milk into the jars
Competitiveness
To me this is definitely a 5star product
I always found that my other machines 5 6oz containers were just too small for the amount of yogurt i use
After all a yogourt maker is a simple box keeping warm the milk
They like it that way whereas they never did with storebought yogurt
