The smithsonian micro miracles of the miniature world revealed is a great book to peruse through. It gives us a detailed look at the microscopic world - which is all around and within us. The illustrations of micro life are colorful and intricate.
The cover is sturdy and well-bound. The illustrations take up enough of the page so that you focus on that first, get curious, and then read the accompanying text to fill in the blanks.
Subjects photographed include insects, bacteria, fungi, plants etc.
This coffee-table sized book has over 400 pages. It is well made, heavy, and probably best viewed while on a table. A great education tool, or coffee table book if there were ever one.

The pictures are awesome, but the format is not compatible with the kindle app. Every other letter is faded making it very difficult to read. Constant having to expand tiny print and pictures is annoying.
This book has good graphics and layout, and enough content to satisfy my needs. For a mostly descriptive and instructional book it also has a style of personal storytelling. Very practical information combined with scientific rationales.
I'm a big skimmer but this book kept me captivated on every page.
The pictures are vibrant and the stories are well written. It seems to be a very good start, even if only to show me up close the ones i would feel too squeamish to even touch. Great photos on quality paper.
