Pros & Cons
Pros
The metal is bright plated and should last well in the outside. The plating is even and bright. Plenty beefy, not flimsy good zinc finish.
I use these to make assemblies that will hold a board in a certain position (a *) for cutting. It gives you a threaded joint in a sheet of wood that can take a bolt, machine screw, or threaded knob.
Just remember to pre-drill your holes before hammering them in. I also want to test these out using them in plastics by heating them up and see if they will essentially melt into the pre- drilled hole and stay in place on the back side of thicker plas... Read More
Cons
In terms of machining, there nowhere near 3/8. They’re over 7/16. Waste of time and money. Long-term, this is a waste.
Highlights
Quality
Nice quality, threads have a good fit.
Solid construction, size is right, no issues on any nuts.
Each nut has 1/4"-20 internal female threads, a 5/16" long barrel and four pronged teeth.
The t-nut is inserted, barrel first into a predrilled hole.
Price
Great value on the cost per unit.
I can find nothing to complain about, and the price was fair.
They are priced right, you get 100 of them for about $7.
1/5 the cost of local purchase in my neighborhood.
Packaging/appearance
They came packed in a plastic bag and all of them look like they are in good shape.
Package came in good condition with the t-nuts all looking like has the proper zinc protective coating.
One thing did tee me off: the package did not contain the full 100 count.
Competitiveness
Just as good as the hillmans i got from the store.
The quality is similar to other t-nuts that i've used, but the value you get is great on a per t-nut basis.
These are good t-nuts, and i have seen a few for comparison.

The hardest part is getting the hole in the part exactly where you want it which has nothing to do with the insert

One of the things i always worry about with fasteners is how many duds are going to be in a batch and as far as i can tell there arent any here

And thats something that should be pointed out because at the time of this review the title says 50 but the item description says 100 but rest assured youre getting a 50 pack which when compared to the big box store is a great buy
