Pros

Slapped one of these cards in my server. Never had to install additional drivers. Opened pc, plugged it in, ran the driver dvd, connected the cable and rebooted. Downloaded driver from intel site.

This cna works very well. Plug-and-play functionality and broad operating system compatibility. Great product, great seller.

Card works with 1gb / 2. Adapter running at full 10gb. Running in freenas 11. Lts server at home.

Using 10m dac cable. Lts connected to a unifi switch 16 xg.

Cons

They were detected but would not pass traffic or take configuration. Can't go higher as link negotiated speeds is stuck at 1gbe! Not worth it.

Quality

The attention to detail and durability in its construction instilled confidence in its long-term performance.

What truly impressed me was the build quality of the adapter.

Just be careful, the clips are plastic, they won't bend in a way you can bend back, they will just break.

Price

With its exceptional performance-to-price ratio, it's a cost-effective solution that fits businesses of all sizes.

It's a little pricey for only 10 gig but sadly for a new card it can't be beaten

Much cheaper than buying the 10gb cards from dell.

Shipping

If shipping time weren't a constraint, i'd get a mellanox connectx-2 for $30 off of ebay or something like that.

I did get an import charge (taxes) but they were quick to credit me.

Packaging/appearance

Windows 10 box is connected with fiber as it's a longer run, and my synology ds1821+ is connected with an intel dac.

My windows 10 box only had one free slot and it was pcie 2.

Competitiveness

I have experimented with several server operating systems: truenas bsd, openmediavault, proxmox, and even vanilla debian and fedora.

Cooperates with truenas core and scale (i'd say faster in core)

As other reviews have stated, synology does not list the intel x520-da1 as supported.

I can say these work against both netgear and arista 10gbe switches.
