If shipping time weren't a constraint, i'd get a mellanox connectx-2 for $30 off of ebay or something like that.
Competitiveness
This is a lot more affordable than the official synology 10gbe nic and works the same.
I bought this to use in my synology ds1817+ nas -- it works right out of the box.

Much lower cost than what the official compatible 10000baset cards are listed at synology

I just swapped out the fullsized slot cover for the halfsized one physically installed it into the nas and it detected it right away on bootup

Note that this is the singleport nic the x540t2 is the dualport model
