Pros

The difference in the sharpness of the blade is how often you hone the blade. The sharpening rod is easy to use and keeps my knives sharp. I usually use a mac porcalin honing rod, however it is only good when the knife is still decently sharp.

Bought this honing steel to replace our old chicago cutlery one that is no longer made. This is the only honing steele i use now. My coworker has one.

Cons

After a month of light use, two sides were missing the diamond grit. The abrasive is too coarse to get a good edge on kitchen knives. I'm disappointed this product wasn't the hard metal i anticipated.

I'm very happy with this one, especially with the extra sharpener for shears, scissors, etc.

Oval shape does a nice job of connecting with the blade edge to maximize sharpening.

Next, all blades dull out after use- how long this takes depends on the quality and hardness of the steel in your blade.

While i purchased this for a gift, it was in great condition when i received it and was a very good quality product.
