Pros & Cons
Pros
The only thing that greatly distinguishes them from pricier ones is the fact they have japan cast into the metal. They are pretty in a simple rustic way and work perfectly.
The cut ends are a little frazzled, but they’re cut! These seem to be fairly poke proof and they do a nice job cutting the yarn. Easier than using a scissor.
It's super convenient to have this around my neck while doing a crochet project, as i can simply just fasten off and then pull the yarn against this pendent and voila! Was tickled to find' them again.
Cons
Be aware, these are a knockoff. They have “japan” molded into them and look identical to clover brand thread cutters, but they’re not.

They cut tant and embroidery floss with no difficulty
She has since started teaching my 3 year old niece how to knit, and this is a great tool for her to cut the yarn without cutting herself

Having one of these around my neck makes it impossible to lose a cutter for my yarn.
Price
50$ each but it was pretty worth the cost.
( no safety problems on planes or around kids) the price for two was economical.
Competitiveness
No difference other than a brand name.
I have had a clover brand cutter like this and, frankly, it was better.
