Pros & Cons
Pros
The kit is easy to put together and looks nice as well. I agree with some reviewers that you could probably get each component separately for a little cheaper, but this is so easy and foolproof. It's great to find an electronic kit like this that went... Read More
Cons
Not through hdmi, 3. I connect my wifi during the install thinking it would download the latest rasbian. The chromium (chrome os) browser is unstable and not reliable. It comes with 32gb flash storage, but storage is not ram.
Lights blink, the os starts booting, then blank screen. Started over heating as soon as it was plugged in. Then realized there was no sound output.
Good packaging, easy to set up, but the canakit premium case is absolute garbage. The vendor/suppliers still need better documentation and a more comprehensive assembly guide. How hard is it to make a functional plastic pi enclosure?
Highlights
Quality
Great kit every thing for getting started got unit for octopi
Works perfect for emulation and other video apps.
Power supply died on me running a high quality phone charger now.
It's frustrating to get the materials for a project and then find out you are still missing some critical piece.
Price
Good value to get this kit instead of buying things piecemeal.
The price makes this a great system to learn about networking, linux commands, putty, vnc, ect.
Some quirks with the linux os but overall it was worth it as a super low $ computer
But i'd recommend buying individual parts to make sure you'll have the parts like micro sd of highest quality at overall cheaper price.
Packaging/appearance
I heard great things about raspberry pi's and this kit is the way to go in terms of the whole package.
Competitiveness
I learned a lot with this kit, i just wish it included current versions of the different os on noobs and maybe a lower price.
(pihole works just fine with a pi3 - its cheaper too)
