It simply would not format or image saying it was read only or beginning then stopping on error

I had tried another kingspec pata ssd and it did work however it had trouble with masterslave which meant it was either a cddvd drive or the ssd

Given the success others have mentioned using this to revitalize older laptops i was disappointed to be unable to boot from this on a 2005 sony vaio vgna197vp

Computer recognized the drive fine as i could install the os onto it and mount it and see the files etc but on boot would consistently get black screen and flashing cursor

If i configure the mbr to always prompt then on boot i see mbr 1234 but none of the partitions actually boot

Bios recognizes the drive ok as well but theres something about the drive that the bios doesnt seem to appreciate
