Pros & Cons
Pros
After having my benchmade 551 griptillian help dissuade a carjacker, i have been sold on benchmade quality and engineering. This is my second benchmade knife and i value the excellent craftsmanship they produce which is the justification for its price... Read More
The knife comes with a tek-lok. Sheath is nice, but i dont care for the way the tek lok attaches. It is also a serviceable substitute for a hatchet.
The knife is the sharpest knife i have ever owned. Def needs some fine tuning on the edge but is still hair shaving sharp from the factory. I own a ken onion sharpener and i put an edge on this bad boy.
There are a host of fun handle wrap videos on youtube, so you can personalize. The para cord wrap handle works great if u need it. Vise highly recommended for the pcord wrapping of the handle.
The toughness of this particular d2 blade is way beyond what i ever expected from it. The d2 steel holds its edge great, haven't had to sharpen it yet. Even the black coating on the blade is extremely durable.
Cons
The tek-loc is way to hard and time consuming to change in the field.
Highlights

The sheath is very sturdy and with the tek lok attachment, very comfortable.
High quality knife that you can conceal in many ways.

Price
Very expensive but you get your monies worth.
Price is what's to be expected for benchmade.
Packaging/appearance
I had mine wrapped within 20 minutes of opening the package.
It said previously used but only box was damaged.
It comes with some paracord to wrap the handle but i haven't attempted that project yet.
Competitiveness
6 ounces (anything less than 6 ounces counts as ultralight in this size blade)* since it's flat, it really stays out of the way... Read More
That would work 100% better than the tek-lok.
It weighs twice as much as my benchmade griptilian or 710, but less than my 15" sven saw and it replaces both.
