Pros & Cons
Pros
It prints well and has a nice metallic-like sheen. Had no issues printing with this filament and the silk light gold looks almost real in the right light.
The 3d printer can be finicky when it comes to filament. I use cura and set it to pla+ and it did the work for me. The filament seems to take the “super fine” resolution setting in cura in stride.
Even the gray silk looks very shiny and metallic, like chrome - i love it! This color of filament is exactly what is seen in the advertisements. It's very nice to see and it's not greasy.
The slight orange really makes this stand out as gold. I am printing some award from this, that is why i ordered the gold color. The wonder woman looks great.
Cons
The spool only has 1 thread. The packaging isn’t great either.
This stuff clogs over and over, it is not silk looking after printing. Had the same issue but to a lesser extent with the jayo silk gold.
Highlights
Quality
Surface finish is fantastic, given my skill level at operating my printer.
The spool is definitely nice and appreciated, firm enough and rolls smoothly.
I did notice that the spool is very full, you cannot even thread the leftover filament through the pre-made holes because it is so high.
This stuff has difficulty bridging gaps and i have had lots of trouble with anything requiring supports.
Price
Prints great and for a great price also
For the price this is a good deal.
I know pla is cheap, but under $15 for a large roll of metallic silk was a surprise.
Packaging/appearance
The filament appeared more of a bronze/mustard color than a gold, but after my first print all my worries went away.
Was a bit worried when i opened the package as it looked plain yellow but came out a very nice shiny gold.
Printing out a nakatomi tower advent calendar from printables and wanted a shiny silver look.
Competitiveness
Jayo is owned by sunlu and i have always had good results with both brands.
I've used jayo filament before, i purchased elsewhere previously; this filament works without fail.
While it's not as durable as many of the pla+/tough pla/etc.
