However in its defense it is very very sticky on the sides and the last roll of 3m tape i ordered from amazon which actually had 3m markings on it also had sticky sides

They are there for adjustments and heat dissipation but since we are using lowwattage led lights now there is no need for all the vents and related energy loss to the attic
