Pros & Cons
Pros
Use a sander to smooth out the compound as much as possible. Spray down the rough plaster with a light mist of water before applying the 3m spackling compound. The spackle itself is indeed phenomenal.
This stuff is far more durable, easy to use, and long lasting than the other stuff i tried first. The product sticks well too. Btw, the stuff works fine.
After it is dry, it is very hard and sturdy. Much better outcome for a smooth wall with out having to replace a full width panel of sheetrock.
Cons
Self-adhesive back plate included in the kit, is the problem. The adhesive is not strong enough and the back plate easily falls off. The patch kit idea seems practical, but falls flat.

This product spreads so well, super strong but it needs painting to make it even stronger.

Competitiveness
I fixed a hole in less than 30 minutes!

I was able to push back enough insulation to get this to stick on two sides but the insulation stuck to part of the adhesive so it was loose at first

I bent a paperclip at the end to make a little hook and used it to pull the insert tight while i applied the compound to the edges until i reached the clip then i unhooked the paperclip and slid it out then covered the rest of the hole
