Pros

The controller is practical on the things that connectivity, latency, battery life, etc. Performance under android is great compared to the horrible experience i got with the moga many years ago. Low latency and a stable bluetooth connection.

If you’re looking for a controller to carry with you in your backpack this is the one. Best controller for throwing in your work bag and playing your switch on at work. Having the grips is extremely comfortable.

My heart will always gravitate towards the snes. It feels, looks, and has about the same weight as my original snes controllers. I can play all the games now without things being unreachable. My fave controller for sidescrollers.

The emerald is by far the best color yet. Purple is better than the pro 2 purple, and is little darker and less opaque. The dpad is really good and 8bitdo makes one of the best 3rd party ones in biz!

Cons

Controller has terrible lag. Makes combinations for mortal kombat difficult and annoying. Even simple games likepokemon become frustrating.

Given all the positive press 8bitdo receives in the us and all the products they must sell here, it surprises me they don't offer warranty service available domestically. Getting a refund and never trusting a controller from 8bit do again.

Great price and paired with all my game devices.

8bitdo fits the bill for the 99th percentile of users.

If you want "great"; they cost around $250.

A simple cost-to-benefit ratio check and i can't personally justify the difference.

Competitiveness

Tl;dr version: well made, performs on par or better than "oem" or name brand controllers; just buy it, 100% worth it.

The d pad is far better than even the official pro controller.

I've used the sn30 pros for more than a few years now, and i prefer this to any other controller for playing competitive smash online.

For comparison i recently modded my phat model ps2 to use a hdd and it has input lag, this seemingly doesnt from what i can tell.
