After searching internet people with same issues cured it by replacing their hdmi leads with 2

Having never needed or used an hdmi switch i first bought 1 from amazon albeit nearly half the price of this 1 but it was utter rubbish

The switch didnt think there was anything connected and nothing was routing through to the tv
