The deliberate shake(s) reloads the pen in order to get another press action. The sensation of pressing the acupoints is increíble.
Holy * this product is amazing. It's kinda like the story of goldilocks and the three bears. For the price, it's not bad.
Cons
This is the third time i ordered this product. Very disappointing the second time around. This product is flimsy and broke quickly.

A surprisingly strong electrical effect, no batteries needed.
It's unfair to rate this product on the ability to deliver on a subjective claim, like reduces anxiety.
The little pinpoint of static shock does help alleviate paint and stiffness.

This is great price for a product that works really works .
For it's price point it has been very effective and convenient and i have been very pleased with it.

I will say id rather have spent a little more money and received something with better construction and a replaceable battery so it could be useful for longer

It is very lightweight doesnt have a clip to keep it from rolling off the desk and if i am not holding it just right ill feel a shock more in my trigger finger instead of the pens tip
