I tried disassembling and cleaning the factory motor — it was quite filthy inside but after a few bursts of brake cleaner it became apparent that the motor brushes had worn out and carbon buildup wasnt the issue

If you could find replacement brushes i would have to imagine that would be a much cheaper fix but seeing as no one seems to sell them

Be aware though that gm used two different window motors in the same model year

The replacement motor was identical and so the change of motors was fairly easy
