The common misconception is that because the gm filter is blue roughly the same size and the thread fits then it doesnt matter what the part number is because it must be the same filter

Late model gm oil filters are different internally especially in the bypass valve opening pressure specification

Physical inspection wont reveal anything about the correct bypass valve design and people who judge by what they think they see but dont actually know fall into the category of stupid is as stupid does as forrest gump reminded us
