Big guys often run into the fit, most other shinguard requires either pocket sleeves or long socks to stuff in. They also have better ankle protection than most shin guards. I wish the ankle portion would detach though.

Got an x-large for my 5'11 boyfriend. Bought the xl for my 7 year old son, based on other reviews. The stirrup part is about the right size for him, but the elastic band that goes around his calf is a little big.

I am a casual soccer player and perhaps a more seasoned player could tell you that there is a difference. I find them to be reasonably comfortable, and quickly forget i'm wearing them after i get started.
