Pros & Cons
Cons
The next day, there were some strong gusts, and the entire pole bent as shown in the picture. Cannot rely on this to keep tarp up in alberta winds. Bought another set of different poles, those are thicker in diameter and stayed fine.

The poles themselves feel reasonably sturdy once erected and should withstand a fair amount of weight on top of them.
Packaging/appearance
The carry bag they come in is handy for storage in your camper and saves them getting tangled up in other things.
Competitiveness

Even with a guy rope pulling the pole down to a peg it doesn’t feel as secure as it would with its own spike

I may have to figure out a way of attaching a tent peg to the bottom of each to achieve this

A few people have complained about them failing in the wind but i don’t set up an awning in windy weather so to me it’s not an expectation i would have for them to withstand that

I could see them bending if you walked into one perhaps and that may be why they don’t have spikes at the bottom so they will get knocked out of place rather than bent if they are bumped against

If you want something heavy duty to stand up in the wind then you may be better off looking at clothes line poles that’s what they are designed for but they come without the convenience of these items

The poles are approximately 34 in diameter and are what i would consider a medium thickness of aluminum

The biggest concern i have is with the apparent looseness of the sections see attached video in my experience it is motion that gives you issues in windy conditions and causes things to fail

Given that i would say these would be suitable for use with smaller tarps in milder weather conditions winds under 50kph
