Top was open so it was all over the inside of the packaging, and apparently this is heat activated, but even without the heat it holds really well and was seriously hard to try to bleach out of hair so it really holds and fading was minimum (i had to take it out and dye my hair a normal color for work as unnatural colors wasn't allowed at new job)  Read Less
