Just like a autonomous vacuum, it hits a wall then reverses to another wall and keeps cleaning.
And not only did this get leaves but it got small twigs, fine particles, like sandy/left over chemical powders, organic matter, bugs, hair.
After 4 times of use , no sand!

If you want immediate then your going to need to spend immediate price tag$$ models.
Especially for the price this little machine really kicks ass.

When you charge it you have to make sure its completely dry
