If anything the 400 pound capacity is overkill because any dumbbells over 30 to 35 pounds would be too large to fit given the close spacing of the supports

I have mine stacked with hex pairs of 10 lbs 15s 20s 25s and 30s for a total of 200 pounds

The bottom 2 racks are the 25s and 30s and the 30s almost touch the 25s and do hit them when i lift the 30s out

My one disappointment is that the 34hooks34 are spaced just a hair over 3 inches apart where as my hex dumbbells have handles about 5 inches wide making it harder to avoid getting pinched

Things to knowthe rubber inserts can come off of the hooks if you are wild but they stay on 99
