Pros & Cons

Pros

The alienware aw3821dw provides an amazing spoiling endeavor. The only gripe i have is that the screen is too small. Other than that, i don't see any reason to be complaining.

I'm absolutely blown away by this monitor compared to my old one. I am a'monitor snob' and this is the best monitor. This is a little fiddly, but generally works once you get used to it.

The ultrawide curved gaming monitor justifies its price with unmatched gaming experience. The stand is sturdy and adjustable, allowing for ergonomic customization to suit your preferences.

The qd-oled panel shines brightest when it comes to hdr gaming.

Cons

The alienware shell isn't worth the hassle. This is a pricey monitor with a lot of drawbacks.

These panels use a diamond/hexagonal array which makes any program and windows display information erroneously. The tilt and leveling is clumsy, with the mechanism to tilt requiring too much force to position and over correcting.

Quality

It is by far the best quality monitor i've personally used.

This monitor is proving to give me buttery smooth performance for gaming and for the day job.

It's enabled me to make the cleanest setup i've ever owned and it's not even close.

It's not even because of poor support with apps and games (though that is a problem), it simply just doesn't add as much to the...  Read More

Price

Highly recommend it if you're willing to take the risk, which is sad to say at this price range.

Really good monitor, picked it up at 18%off good deal for $900

I ended up getting the alienware - aw3821dw (only $599 open box on amazon too!

Think i bought it for about $1,200 on the dell website at the time.

Competitiveness

It has cut my work time down by at least 20% because i can open 2 or even 3 spreadsheets up at once and can compare things so m...  Read More

I replaced an older, sdr alienware monitor with this screen.

Second actually falls down to sdr vs hdr and the annoyances that come with them.

Now this could probably be chocked up to early adopter's tax more than anything (even though hdr in its current form has been a...  Read More

I mean it when i say it is truly indescribable how much of a leap going from almost any other display type like ips or tn to oled is

Seeing linus tech tips video on his c1 made me twiddle my thumbs for a while attempting to find a happy medium with local dimming or a really high quality va for those deep blacks but nothing was really satisfying to me

First i just wanna say ultrawide was fun for a while but it honestly feels more like a gimmick than a true feature and i kind of wish i had just gone with a 4k 169 instead

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Its not even because of poor support with apps and games though that is a problem it simply just doesnt add as much to the immersion as i had assumed it would

Thats really a personal thing you may feel different but baring my expectations i do want to reemphasize that plenty of games and video content still dont properly support funky aspect ratios and so you might find yourself living with a 27 screen more often than a 34 depending on what you play

Second actually falls down to sdr vs hdr and the annoyances that come with them

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

This screen just doesnt really look good when its in an sdr profile imo especially in windows

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

It doesnt come close to its full screen brightness color accuracy is lost its just not great so your best course of action is to enable hdr and let windows builtin tone mapping fix the mess
