Pros & Cons
Pros
The 8 quart pot is a generous size and works for most of my large pot needs. The sides of the pan are truly vertical, and can accommodate a generous quantity of ingredients. Perfect for soups for 2 with some leftovers. Worth it if one uses it to sear ... Read More
The 3 ply is nothing to sneeze at. It has a good heft to it. No scraping.
The heat travels very differently. The heat distribution is very even and it is easy to set it at a low simmer. Kinda wish the lid was glass, with a steam vent, but that's just what we are used to.
No issues cleaning the residue from the seared chicken, tomato sauce, or the cream. Clean up was so simple and much easier than my non-stick pots or my french enameled cast iron dutch ovens. The 8 quart capacity is great.
There are only a few light scratches which are not visible when on the cooktop. Have always loved the durability of all clad. The all-clad is as close as i could find.
Highlights
Quality
Very well made and i love the sturdy bottom, i don’t have to worry about things burning in it.
Excellent cooking performance, no need to crank the heat all the way up, the heat distribution is excellent.
I bought this as a ‘like new’ product, labeled as 1% scratch at bottom.
Had to return this unused since it was too heavy for my purposes.
Price
The price was also surprising, great value.
I would buy that instantly, regardless of cost.
Not cheap but you get what you pay for!
This is not cheap - but worth the price for serious cooks.
Shipping
Pan had arrived well-boxed and on time.
Packaging/appearance
Received in good condition, with the all-clad original box.
Competitiveness
I use these more than any other cookware i own.
I've tried others but none compare to all-clad.
The d5 is more money, but is not as responsive to heat; the d3 is more closely related to copper than the d5, and is much cheaper.
I would look for sales and get something similar to the sizes that you already have and use often: you bought them because you needed them.

The scratches are what you’d get if you put the pot in a metal sink to clean
