I like the features where i can change the font size, and how it tells me how many minutes or pages left in the book/chapter.
Competitiveness
It uses the same micro-usb cord as other small electronics, so we have a ton of them around.
I wanted a newer model, but this certainly isn't the year for extravagant purchases.

My kindle died completely and would only charge if connected to a desktop computer

Theres no backlight so you wont be able to read in the dark
