The biggest downside of these shoes is the sole itself its good for sidewalks and similar surfaces but can be slippery if you try to hike in them and the rocks would probably eat away at the bottom quickly

I live in phoenix and these last about one summer i can feel my feet getting closer and closer to the hot pavement as the sole gets hot and compresses a little and most of the tread on the bottom is worn off
