Pros & Cons
Pros
Two alps sleeping bags, two brittany gun dogs, and the sweetest wife in the world. I live in a drafty old ohio farmhouse, and this sleeping bag is the greatest.
The outer material reminds me of my carhartt. Outside material seems more durable than i would have guessed from the pictures; feels more akin to burlap than cotton. Inside is very nice flannel, seems like it will last quite a while.
We use them when winter camping in our toy hauler trailer and in our roof top tent. Using a diesel heater to take the chill out. My grandson and son-in-law are active in scouting. Their troop is very active and camps out at least once a month year rou... Read More
Zipper seems pretty solid; large and metal, no catching when i zip or unzip it. They are much larger and heavier than the typical backpacker lightweight nylon bags. Zippers & materials all work well and hold up great.
The bag is big enough to move around and not feel claustrophobic. It's very roomy, my pregnancy pillow fits inside with room to spare. It is huge though, and very heavy.
Cons
It is comfortable when the zipper stays zipped, which it does not. Moving about while sleeping, the zipper creeps down and several times nightly requires zipping it back up.
Highlights
Quality
The materials are top notch with an amazing zipper to boot, really nice build quality, large and thick.
These bags are very thick, very warm and appear to be well made.
Last october during a camp out they found their 32 degree bags were not up to the task, they froze.
This bag is very heavy and bulky not suitable for any kind of backpacking.
Price
By far the best $180 i ever bought.
The bargain 3 bag sleep system was a huge success and i am sure you could go down to at least 30 below.
The price in a bargain, try to find another minus 25 degree bag at this price point.
I have not had a chance to camp in really cold weather yet (below freezing) but i'm feeling good about my purchase and price paid.
Packaging/appearance
This thing is not for hiking though, it pretty much weighs just about 15lbs and is large but comes with three attached straps t... Read More
