Pros

Tight fit midsection from balls of your feet to end of the arch. After chemotherapy, i have neuropathy and this shoe is exactly right for my needs. Wide toe box and moderate insole padding make them my favorite walking/hiking shoes!

They are comfortable running on rocky terrain. But i run on the pavement and they are great! After slipping some new ones in and wearing them a few times it is still not enough.

Cons

Altras are garbage. I hope they can fix this one design flaw with the next revision. Big mistake. What a bummer. Turns out this is a common complaint.

The soles look aggressive but the soft gummy material is not good in snow or ice. They quickly rub into the heal so the 5 mile trail run i put in left popped blisters on my heels and were painful to wear work boots the rest of the week.

Such a lack of durability is unacceptable. That's a dealbreaker. I recommend you don't waist your money on these shoes until altra fixes their issues.

While the tread is barely worn the uppers are falling apart. The foot bed is also much less cushioned on the 4. They are comfortable, roomy, and handle great, but 167 miles in the inside fabric on the left forefoot tore. There is no stability/security...  Read More

Very comfortable and durable, i only replace them every other year which is unheard of for running shoes.

Within 6-7 months my lightly worn altra lone peak shoes are coming apart.

Usually i can lace a shoe loosely enough to allow for a problem on the very top of my instep, but with this shoe, there was no ...  Read More

Price

I got a good discount and they are perfect.

He is very pleased with both the price and fit.

Considering that these are not used daily, and i don’t run in them, this is very disappointing for a $159 shoe.

He bought a returned pair and saved $$.

Competitiveness

In my opinion the superiors and the lone peaks are the best shoes in the altra lineup.

Wish they would not cut corners like most other companies though

He couldn’t get his foot into those 9’s and he felt too much room in the 11

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

He sneakily thought about buying these shoes it over and over again for the better part of three months and was hesitant as he’s been using keen or oboz hiking boots for years and while he knew he was due for a new pair of bootsshoes for hiking he wasn’t certain he wanted to pull the trigger on trail runners
