Pros & Cons
Pros
The width really lets your toes splay out naturally. Most sneakers contain an incline from toe to heel. These altras combine just the right amount of padding with zero drop to give you a close-to-barefoot experience without exposing your feet to every... Read More
Saucony type a9s are the first running shoe that i look forward to putting on for runs. I love running in merrell vapor gloves but needed something that had some cushioning and could deal with a damp day. Just did a 10mi race and absolutely no ankle o... Read More
The cushioning is absolutely wonderful--neither too low to the ground, too stiff nor too soft. Fabric is breathable. The cushion is bouncy and comfortable.
W in these fit me perfectly. Wear these in warmer months as daily shoe. These fit more snug than my previous altra’s but i like the feel.
The upper is plush and knit and your feet glide in like it's a sock. The lower/sole is where this shoe truly shines. The upper offers a bit more support but the shoe remains light and slipper-like.
Cons
The instep height on these shoes is abysmally short. The upper around the ankle was lowered to uncomfortable levels. The only plus side is they are comfortable for a zero drop shoe and a wide toe box.

Packaging/appearance
Vendor delivered the shoe in excellent packaging and within two business days (prime).
I was actually surprised by how comfortable these were right out of the box.
The shoe: i opened the box, a tore out the paper wad inserts and slipped both shoes on.
But admit i tried a few models before settling on the escalante.
Competitiveness
The toebox, cushioning, breathability, and looks are all excellent.
