I ordered this adapter connected it to the laptop and to the vga port on the projector and selected the mirroring image on the macbook.
Price
I have not tried the dongle from apple, but this one suites my needs perfectly for a fraction of the price.
Don't pay the money for the expensive one when this will do the job!
Worth the money, but has somewhat of a cheap feel to it.
