If i try 4k video settings on youtube i get a bit of lagging, but on 1080p the quality is very good and smooth.

Do not believe you have to be on osx catalina or above - it works on osx - mojave.

Id used a similar one on an older imac and whilst it worked i was a pain to get the right resolution set and it was never 100 right
